Each classroom is assigned a Room Parent, who acts as a liaison between parents and teachers.
Room Parents will be chosen by the PTA Vice President, in consultation with the teachers, and will perform these duties in lieu of a tribe assignment.
Where appropriate, parents will take their questions to the Room Parents first. For example, you would not ask a Room Parent about your child’s progress, or about a sensitive matter involving a student. Room Parents will help welcome and orient new families, and coordinate teacher birthday celebrations, room pet care, and end of year teacher gifts, coordinate Move-A-Thon letters, and handle purchasing, among other things.
They will also coordinate with each other for events that involve all the students that would have otherwise used valuable teacher time. In this way, our teachers have more time to spend on the creative, rather than administrative, aspects of teaching.
